Despite their slightly off-putting labeling, Hemp Bombs is a legitimate CBD brand that produces a mild isolate hemp extraction, which is designed for all types of pets.

In our review of the Best CBD Oil for Dogs, we focused on full-spectrum products that contain CBD as well as other cannabis compounds, which didn’t leave much room for CBD isolates like this brand. So, here’s our review of Hemp Bomb’s CBD oil and dog chews.

Who are Hemp Bombs?

Founded in 2016, Hemp Bombs likes to say that they got into the market “before CBD was cool.” Whether or not you agree with that statement, this Tampa Bay-based brand has established a wide customer base, catering mainly to the recreational CBD market with things like vape juice, gummies, and even a tattoo aftercare balm. Right now, you can find at least some of their products in over 25,000 stores across the country, although only a small proportion of those are likely to stock their pet-specific options.

As you might guess from the branding, Hemp Bombs don’t farm their own plants, which is disappointing. Aside from the actual industrial hemp cultivation, however, Hemp Bombs handles the rest of the production process including the manufacturing of their CBD isolate.

Unlike the vast majority of CBD producers, Hemp Bombs opts for a pure CBD extraction in all of their products. This is good news for tiny dogs or those with sensitive stomachs, though we’re not sure why Hemp Bombs doesn’t also offer a more potent spectrum option. Their pet products are centered around added flavors and soft textures to help pets accept their new CBD schedule.

Hemp Bombs: Pet product reviews

Hemp Bombs Pet CBD Oil 250mg Tincture

Hemp Bombs Pet CBD Oil 250mg Tincture
  • CBD Isolate

  • Grapeseed and MCT carrier oil infusion

  • Beef and chicken flavor options

  • 8 cents per mg of CBD at largest size

Although Hemp Bombs only make one type of CBD oil for pets, they offer that oil in several different formulations. There are two natural flavorings, Beef and Chicken, and three concentrations: a 100mg, 250mg, and a 1000mg option. This should help owners achieve the right strength dosage for their dog’s size and overall needs.

For a non-organic isolate extract, each of these strengths offers reasonable value for money, at between 8 and 14 cents per mg of CBD. (Note: this would count as awesome value for money in an organic full-spectrum oil, but Hemp Bomb’s CBD oil is a very different product).

To carry their CBD isolate, Hemp Bombs again breaks the mold, opting for a combination of MCT oil and grapeseed oil. Like the more traditional MCT oil, grapeseed is also a known source of omega-6 fatty acids, which can help maintain organ health when consumed in moderation.

What are customers saying?

“We have an older dog bothered by arthritis. I put these drops right on her dog treat, After letting the drops absorb for a minute, she took the treat with no problem.”

“I give this to my dog for hip dysplasia and I give it to my cat because she is slowing down at the age of 12. Both seem to be doing better.”

“I’ve tried other brands and she will only take the chicken CBD Oil from HEMP BOMBS.”

Hemp Bombs CBD Dog Chews 120mg

Hemp Bombs CBD Dog Chews 120mg
  • CBD Isolate

  • Main ingredients: Oat Flour, Potato Flour, Coconut Glycerin, Peanut Butter

  • 12 cents per mg of CBD

Oat Flour, Potato Flour, Coconut Glycerin, Peanut Butter, Calcium Carbonate, Sunflower Oil, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Lecithin, Salt, Sorbic Acid, Calcium Propionate (to maintain freshness), Rosemary Oil.

Hemp Bombs CBD Dog Chews are peanut butter-based treats, with each bite containing 15mg of their same CBD isolate extraction. You can buy them in 8- and 15-count bags, which we think are good sizes, as it allows first-time consumers to try them without having to pay out for a significant portion.

Older pups and those with dental issues might benefit most from Hemp Bombs treat recipe, as they’ve been formulated with a soft texture. A look at the owner testimonials suggests that dogs who have trouble chewing were able to successfully chomp down on these treats.

While the ingredient list for Hemp Bombs treats doesn’t reveal any outright unhealthy or filler ingredients, there also aren’t any stand out foods that get us excited about this product. Ingredients like sunflower oil and coconut glycerin are ok, but should definitely be consumed in moderation, which is why we didn’t feature these in our best CBD treats for dogs.

What are customers saying?

“The dog chews/treats are great for my dogs and work really well. My little chihuahua calms down after a few minutes and goes right to sleep.”

“Didn’t do anything for my dog, and he didn’t like them, crumbled up in his food.”

Our verdict

Hemp Bombs doesn’t come across as a particularly dog-focused company, and the fact that they’re not involved in the farming of their hemp puts them at a disadvantage to many of the other CBD brands we’ve reviewed on this site. However, they do offer a tried-and-tested CBD isolate extraction, with zero THC and decent value for money.
