About the brand: Who is ElleVet?

Ellevet is most known for its unique blend of CBD, which uses a 1:1 ratio of CBD to CBDa. However, the brand does have many shortfalls.

Unlike the premium CBD brands, ElleVet uses a cheaper, non-organic hemp grown outside of the US. It also opts for a sesame seed carrier oil, further displaying its choice for cheaper ingredients.

With no money-back guarantee and next to no independent customer reviews, we suggest reading through our ElleVet review closely before choosing their CBD oil or treats.

ElleVet’s Hemp CBD + CBDA Oil Review

ElleVet Complete CBD Oil
  • High in CBDa

  • Full spectrum extract

  • Imported hemp

  • Non-organic

  • Sesame seed carrier oil

ElleVet’s Hemp CBD + CBDA Oil for Dogs presents a full spectrum blend with an intriguing 1:1 ratio of CBD to CBDA. However, the extract is derived from imported, non-organic hemp, which is a point of contention. The most recent lab analysis for their 70mg blended extract reveals 35.9mg of CBD and 35.6mg of CBDA, plus an additional 3.5mg from cannabinoids like CBC, CBG, and THC.

While the inclusion of various cannabinoids is a positive aspect, the overall additional cannabinoid content is 5%, falling below the 7% average and is notably less than typically found in full spectrum extracts. This lower percentage could potentially reflect the use of lower-quality hemp, a concern sometimes associated with overseas sources.

ElleVet opts for sesame seed oil as a carrier, diverging from the more commonly used MCT or hemp seed oils. The product’s concentrations are available in 1050, 2100, and 4200 mg of combined CBD and CBDA, which may not be as suitable for smaller dogs due to the high potency.

ElleVet Hemp CBD + CBDA Chews Review

ElleVet Hemp CBD + CBDA Chews product
  • Includes glucosamine and chondroitin

  • Lab report does not match product description

  • Outdated lab report

  • Non-organic, imported hemp

ElleVet Hemp CBD + CBDA Chews, similar to their pet oil, are made with non-organic imported hemp, but without the Delta-9 THC.

Each pack contains 62 peanut-flavored soft chews, likely to be palatable to dogs. ElleVet claims that each chew includes 12.8mg of cannabinoids, derived from 20mg of their proprietary hemp oil blend. However, this claim presents some uncertainty. According to their lab report, only 7.25% of the weight of their hemp oil consists of cannabinoids.

This percentage suggests that the actual amount of cannabinoids in each chew might be lower than reported, raising questions about the exact cannabinoid content and potency of these chews.

Ingredients include brewer’s yeast, glycerin, guar gum, molasses, organic sesame seed oil, pea protein digest, peanut butter, potato starch, rice bran, rice starch, sorbic acid, sugar, sweet potato, tapioca starch, and water.

Additionally, they contain 340mg of Glucosamine (sourced from shellfish) and 140mg of Chondroitin (sourced from bovine), both added for their potential therapeutic effects, particularly in supporting joint health.

Ellevet Customer Opinions:

The brand also appears to have limited independent reviews available, which may make it challenging for potential buyers to find unbiased feedback. Additionally, the lack of a money-back guarantee for opened products presents a potential risk for consumers looking to trial the product. These factors combined may give pause to those considering ElleVet for their dog’s CBD needs.

Our Verdict:

ElleVet’s range of Hemp CBD + CBDA products for dogs, including their oil and chews, present a mixed picture in terms of quality and efficacy. The brand’s commitment to a 1:1 ratio of CBD to CBDA in its oil is commendable, but its use of imported, non-organic hemp raises concerns about the quality of the raw materials.

The lab reports indicate a lower-than-average cannabinoid content, which might reflect the use of lower-quality hemp. This aspect, along with the unconventional choice of sesame seed oil as a carrier in the oil, deviates from the norm by opting for cheaper ingredients. Uncertainty about the actual cannabinoid content in ElleVet Hemp CBD + CBDA Chews further undermines our trust.

Limited independent reviews and the absence of a money-back guarantee for opened products add a layer of risk for consumers exploring CBD options for their pets. We would like to see ElleVet address these issues and enhance transparency before we can confidently recommend this brand.
